Saluting you, my friend...

We were always together; the four of us… games, extra-currics, lunch, snacks etc etc… but when it was finally time to move out of school, we parted… then on, it was an endless pursuit to have a good life… at least, that was the case for me. Friends were forgotten, birthdays and friendship days faded away in time…
I went on to complete my engineering and finally got into the sea of Indian IT population; another is in UK doing his higher studies in medicine; the third is looking after his business in our hometown… but the fourth… this post goes out to him! For choosing a path to serve our country, for protecting me and my family from external forces, for the help extended in every crisis… On this Army Day, I salute you my friend… And all your colleagues who have dedicated their lives to serving our country, so that the rest of us can live without fear…

Thank you God!!

Do you feel happy for someone when he or she dies? Is death always tragic? Though bereavement is always sad, somewhere deep within, I felt happy for my grandmother. She didn’t suffer, she didn’t lie there waiting, she never had to say good bye… she just left…

She was admitted to the hospital in the morning for a slight stomach upset.

“She’s perfectly fine and can be discharged soon” said the docs in the evening.

Behind the screens, God was having a good laugh at the folly of the docs! Only he knew…

But this time, I am thankful to him… he could have made things really worse… but he didn’t…

God, though you have taken someone dear to me again, this time, and mind you, just this time, thank you for making it less painful!

The Onam memoirs...

  • A breath of fresh air...
  • Some memorable moments…
  • Quite a few laughs…
  • Catching up with relatives…
  • Walk through the lush green paddy fields…
  • Endless photo sessions…
  • Finger-licking-good sadhya with an awesome payasam…
  • Fun with cousins…
  • A drive through Gods own country…
  • Rain lashing the windshield…
  • A train journey that touched my life…
  • Some addition to my wardrobe…
  • A surprise meeting with a classmate…
  • Promises to keep in touch…
  • Some driving lessons…

That was what was in store for Onam this time… Was like a warm refreshing breeze…
But now it’s back to the cold... Life is frozen again…

There was a time...

There was a time when

  • boredom was unheard of!
  • the word “work” never came in our conversations…
  • I remembered the birthdays of everyone in my class…
  • someone would jump and ask “so when is the next party?”…
  • the only words needed to have a get-together were “let’s meet!”…
  • “coffees and conversations” meant nothing, but yelling, shouting and running on the beach did…
  • words with no meaning meant a lot…
  • e-cards never existed and paper cards were carefully chosen with the best of words, to wish someone…
  • a “wassup” could start a conversation for hours…
  • I hated weekends coz my friends weren’t there…
  • I couldn’t decide whom to call when I was feeling down and ended up meeting all of em!
  • a discussion on mathematics turned into tactics for Zork and Myst…
  • we formed groups and gave ourselves “fundoo” names and pledged we’ll be like this forever…
There was a time when I loved to be just me…
But somewhere in time, I lost myself…
